Carbon steel cookware will outlive you

·1 min

Carbon steel cookware are nice. No matter how neglected they are, they can probably be saved with a wire brush and some oil.

This wok came from my uncle’s storage, who recently passed. He was a caterer, so this wok has seen some serious work.

Cleaned up the carbon residue (on both sides) with a wire brush mounted on an angle grinder - which took longer than I thought and filled my clothes with tiny metal wires!

Then a rinse in soap and water, followed by thurough drying and three coats of sunflower oil seasoning (at 300C and slow cooldown in turned off oven - took half a day).

Good as new!
